Description
The RMGA, together with Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, will be working with Emily Jeffreys, District Wildlife Biologist, Wenatchee, for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in the Wenatchee region to count mountain goats surrounding Lake Chelan in Washington, July 14, 15 and 16.
There are a variety of trail options to use. Some are day trips and some are overnight trips - you can indicate your preference when we contact you to provide further details.
Never participated in a goat count before? No problem! An orientation will be provided (location TBD) where Emily will review and explain protocols.
This is our first goat count in this area! There will likely be some learning curves as we explore trail heads and find the best glassing spots.
In order to volunteer for this count, some additional paperwork needs to be filled in:
- the RMGA waiver form
- volunteer profile with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife
- sign up for the event through the WDFW website
